Texas ~ Kelpie X ~ Puppy on trial 8/05/16

Meet Texas! Our gorgeous little 9 week old, Kelpie X, girl.

Texas is one from a litter of six, three of which are in care in Glendale and the other 2 are in care with her here in Raymond Terrace. These kids were surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle at 5 weeks old.

Texas is a very kind, patient girl. While the others paw at you for attention, she's happy to sit back and wait for her turn for cuddle time.

Texas spends her days running around the back yard with her sisters and foster brother (a fully grown border collie), chewing toys, eating and napping. Because of her age she tends to get 30 minute bursts of energy - followed by an hour or 2 of down time. Her favourite thing in the whole world is her unicorn pillow pet, which once upon a time they all used to sleep on - but now that they are too big to all fit on it at once she has claimed it as her own and always has pole position, while the others try to climb on top of her, but end up falling off and napping close by.

Texas is not yet trained in any way, and will require someone experienced to teach her manners. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.

Her current diet usually consists of dry food for breakfast, wet food for dinner, and chicken necks/bones/treats in between.

Due to the nature of Kelpies Texas will need a decent sized yard to run around in with secure 6ft fencing. She will need to be walked every day, with lots of play time in between. It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Texas. If you don't have another dog to keep her company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time.

As Texas is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's 4 or 5 months old. Texas will be ready to go to her forever home on or after 27/3/16.
