About Gem ~ Mastiff x Labrador pup (Trial 24/4/16)
Gem is a 7 week old, female, Mastiff x Labrador puppy. She's a sociable, cuddly little girl who enjoys playing with toys, wrestling with the other dogs and puppies, exploring the garden and curling up on a lap for cuddle time. She is very healthy and has been raised in a home environment with other dogs and people. She gets along very well with dogs of all different breeds, sizes and ages. She hasn't met a cat yet but I'm sure she'll be fine.
Gem will grow up to be a large dog. We recommend puppy training classes for all puppies.
Gem needs to be allowed inside when people are home, and must sleep inside. She will be great family dog. You will need good fencing.
It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Gem. If you don't have another dog to keep her company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time.
Gem, her siblings, and her mother Lizze, where all abandoned at a pound when the puppies where only 2 weeks old. Fortunately, Dog Rescue Newcastle saved mum and pups. Lizze has been a great mother and she and her puppies are all healthy and thriving. There are 11 puppies in this litter. Six of them are with one foster carer: 3 males (Matrix, Nitro and Tye) and 3 females (Emerald, Gem, and Maeve). The other 3 are with another carer and are also available for adoption.
As Gem is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because She'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when She's 4 or 5 months old. Gem will be ready to go to her forever home on 9/4/16, after her second vaccination.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
