About Murphy
Murphy is a very special boy, looking for a very special home.
Murph has been foster dog at Paw Prints HQ, since he arrived in care in November and I can honestly say that listing him for adoption is one of the hardest things I’ve done, in over 6 years of rescue. If there was any way we could offer him the home he needs and deserves, he would stay here forever, but Murphy needs a quieter life than the hustle and bustle of rescue and while he’s happy in his routine here he doesn't enjoy the constant change of faces. Murph deserves the most perfect life he can have and so he is now taking applications from potentially perfect forever homes.
Murphy is an inside dog. I know that might sound strange; being that he’s 83kgs and about 7 feet tall, but he is surprisingly good indoors, even small spaces. Murphy is a couch potato, outside is for going to the toilet (he is fully house trained), going for a stroll, or the occasional nap on the deck. Murphy likes to be with his person and his ideal home would be with a mature single or couple, who work from home or are semi-retired. Murphy prefers women and can be initially reactive with some men, but once he knows they’re not a threat, he soon settles. Murphy is fine with calm, friendly dogs of all sizes in the home, though he can be reactive to other dogs on lead, and he will need a confident handler that has his respect. Murph has the potential to live with a dog savvy cat, though slow introductions and supervision would be needed. He would do best in a home without cats or other small animals or birds. Murphy is very aware of his size and will back up and do a little U-turn, if needed, to get out of a tight spot. He doesn’t drool, other than directly after drinking and he only snores moderately.
Murphy is in amazing shape for his age and is not currently on any medications for his joints or any other age related issues. He does however require a single level home, without shiny floors, as he can quite easily lose his footing. Murphy can be prone to ‘the itchys’, and occasionally needs some cortisone for seasonal allergies. Murphy has a Lipoma (a fatty lump) on his chest, but this doesn’t bother him and doesn’t require surgery.
Murphy’s perfect day would start with waking up on his couch, or his bed in his person’s room.
A good morning scratch behind the ears and a short stroll before breakfast.
A late morning nap on the couch, a potter in the garden or a healthy chew, a brush or gentle massage, followed by an afternoon nap.
Another short stroll before dinner (or later in the evening, depending on weather) then the evening on the couch, before heading back to bed.
Murphy is a sweet, sensitive, intuitive and cautious boy who can flinch if touched too abruptly and will do best with a gentle owner, who will be conscious of his feelings and needs.
Murphy is in care in Croydon.
Medical notes
Murphy goes to his new home desexed, microchipped, flea and worm treated and vaccinated.
