About Diago ~ Boxer X Bulldog (on trial 30/03/16)
Diago is an 8-week old, male, Boxer X American bulldog puppy. He is the most adorable little man and just loves to give kisses and cuddles. Diago gets on well with both large and small dogs and is happy to be around cats. He is currently living with two large and one small dog and a cranky old cat who tolerates his puppy play.
Diago loves to play with toys. He enjoys playing tug and will chase a ball. His favourite toy is his squeaky banana but he also loves toes! That’s right, he just loves to nibble on toes (ouch!!). He will run and play with the other dogs and then crash for a much needed sleep.
Diago would suit an energetic single, couple or family. He loves all people and is good with children. Be aware though, that he will grow up to be a large dog so young children would require supervision in case he accidentally knocked them over during play.
His ideal forever home would be one that will allow him to grow into a handsome, gentle and loving dog by providing him with ongoing training and allowing him to have some indoor time when the family are at home. He will need to sleep indoors as he is still a baby. At present he sleeps through the night and will wake his foster carer to go for a walk in the morning. He is crate trained and happily sleeps/rests in his crate during the day and all night.
Diago would love to have a doggie playmate to keep him company and to teach him good manners. Being a puppy he is very curious about the world and may get into mischief if left alone for extended periods. (Don’t leave your shoes laying around). He loves to explore the backyard and hiding in the garden. He will require sun protection when outdoors as he has very fair skin. Diago will follow you around the house or yard and is happy to help with whatever you’re doing.
Diago is already learning some basic commands and will respond well to ‘come’. He is trying to sit and wait for dinner and is able to share a bowl with another dog. He is trying really hard to master the doggie door and his toilet training is a work in progress (he's too young to have full control yet). He is a very bright puppy and will learn quickly.
As Diago is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Singleton and Port Stephens. He will need to be returned to one of our vets for desexing when he’s around 5-6 months old. He will not be available for interstate adoption.
For more information or to meet Diago, please contact his foster mum Michelle on 0422 652 530, or email michelle.jackson@live.com.au. Diago is located in Cessnock, 40minutes North-West of Newcastle.
Diago’s adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing, first two vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
