About Milo ~ Maltese x Shih Tzu ~ On Trial 10/04/16
Milo is a 6 year old male Maltese x Shih Tzu with a big personality and a cute underbite that reminds you of an ewok. Milo is a bit of an explorer – he loves sniffing every new smell he comes across and he loves rolling around in the leaves and grass. He may be white and fluffy but this little dude is certainly no princess! He loves to chill out on the couch with you and be fussed over, but he also loves outdoor time with you too. He enjoys rides in the car - especially when he can feel the wind in his hair.
Milo loves hanging out in the yard when you are out gardening, he rolls around like a worm giving himself a good scratch and he will beg you for belly rubs. If you stop patting him he will roll over and beg you to keep those belly rubs coming! Milo enjoys meeting new people and he has no hesitation in asking new friends to pat him too.
Milo is very friendly with other dogs he meets and shows no aggression, however he is shy of bigger dogs due to his small size. He would suit a family with another small, friendly dog who he can hang out with, and someone who will continue to teach him that big, social dogs can be friends too. Milo has a lot of energy for a little chap and so he enjoys a daily walk, he walks fairly well on the lead but will pull when he’s excited and when he has the chance to meet other people.
Milo wound up in a Sydney pound and when he first came into foster care he was quite a bossy little fellow – he would growl if he didn’t like what you were doing. Since then he has responded very well to positive training techniques and treat rewards and he is more content now that he has rules and boundaries. He would best suit a family who will continue with his training to ensure he doesn’t revert to being Mr Bossy Pants. He is best suited to a family without little kids as they may not understand if he needs some space, so kids older than say 15 years who are dog savvy will understand him better. He would also suit a single or couple of any age who have lots of love to give and who have a lot of time to make him feel like part of the family.
Milo is an inside/outside dog and needs to be allowed inside when people are home, and to sleep inside. Although he loves to play in the yard he is not suited to being a yard only dog as he is far to social. Milo has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.
If you think you can give lots of pats and kisses this little man will be yours for life! For more information, please contact his foster carer Rebecca on email becca.r17@hotmail.com . Milo is in foster care near Erina on the NSW Central Coast, 2261 and is not available for adoption interstate.
Milo's adoption fee is $450 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
