About Buddy & Leo ~ on trial 26/03/16
Introducing Buddy and Leo. Bursting with affection and a loving playful spirit. Your family will be complete with these two adorable 8 month old Maltese X Silky Terrier brothers.
Buddy and Leo are great with children and adults alike and have certainly come out of their shell since being rescued just a short time ago. They are playful with children and do not growl, bite or jump. They follow basic commands and have not been known to misbehave or escape the yard. They have learnt to bark less and less as they have become more comfortable in their environment. They are generally happier outside than inside, but do enjoy reaping the luxuries of both worlds at their leisure. We have found that they sleep better at night outdoors. This is not to say that they wouldn't love to find a forever family to cuddle up to at night if invited to do so. They are toilet trained, but have had a couple of wee little accidents on a particular rug.
These two inseparable mates take great delight in tummy rubs, cuddles and chasing games with their carers and will then continue on to create their own fun together until they finally get tuckered out and sleep for a few hours to recover. They have enjoyed exploring and finding hidden treasures under the house. They are not really into dog toys, but love to chew on anything that is small and plastic. They are happy to be home alone entertaining each other until play and feed time in the afternoon, making them suitable for a working household.
Buddy and Leo have low shedding coats so will require regular grooming. They will need some coaching on venturing out of the safety of their yard as they have not mastered the art of walking on a lead yet and find the big wide world past the picket fence a bit overwhelming. They are frightened of other dogs which I'm sure they will overcome with guidance. We have also found them overly inquisitive of cats making for some tricky confrontations with our cat.
Buddy and Leo will thrive in any loving home, they have so much love to give and will be great lovable companions for the young and old.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
