Pi ~ Gorgeous Greyhound (21/08/16)

Say hello to Pi. He is a 5 yr old desexed male greyhound who is a total smoocher. Pi is a mostly calm, well adjusted, elegant, placid boy - he does have his silly crazy moments! He will celebrate your return by finding a stuffed toy (he prefers elephants) and he will bounce around, shaking the toy. Pi takes some time to settle in and for his true personality to shine - if given this time before you know it he would have wormed his way into your heart!

Pi is very family orientated. He thrives sharing time with his family no matter what they are doing. Pi enjoys tug of war, chasies, toy throwing or just chilling out with his family members. He also loves snuggles on the couch or bed - he isn't a bed hog though! He loves a good pat, head or neck massage too – if you stop patting him, he will nudge his nose under your hand, give a tiny grunt or just rub his head on the bed to remind you to keep patting.

Pi will pop up beside you while you are watching TV and just lie there happily, sometimes using your leg as a pillow. He also likes to do the greyhound roach now and again - an elegant pose for a greyhound, on their backs, legs in the air! When it’s hot he doesn't mind going for a swim either or splashing in a paddle pool. Pi enjoys a conversations with you, with little whines and soft rumbles to tell you what he’s been up to. Sometimes if you’re special he will roo with you (rooing is the greyhound version of singing!)

Pi loves bread. Offer him bread or bacon and he will pick bread. He will often go up to the bread bag, stick his nose up and look at you with his gorgeous eyes pleading with you for just one slice please! He won’t steal the bag though, he has good manners.

Pi is completely toilet trained and can be left inside if his family is away for less than 4 hours.
Greyhounds are extremely lazy preferring to snooze the day away on the lounge. A 15-20 minute walk a day will make Pi extremely happy and contented. Pi is a dream to walk - no pulling! Pi will have to wear his muzzle out in public. However, there is a Greenhound assessment that can be undertaken - if he passes he can be taken out in public without his muzzle. Due to a greyhounds’ speed they cannot be let off lead in unfenced areas, he will also need a home without cats or pocket pets. Greyhounds are a little different from your average dog, so reading up about greyhounds is advised and appreciated.

The most suitable forever home for Pi would be somewhere where he can be an important member of the family. Perhaps a family with older children, or a similar sized canine friend if you are a full time worker, or as an only dog if his family is not away too much.

"WHAT'S LIFE LIKE WITH A GREYHOUND?
Forget everything you once thought about greyhounds. Family life is more their speed, with the amount of exercise they get more dictated by your terms rather than theirs. Essentially, they’re adaptable. A run or walk of any distance and at any speed is within their capabilities. Remember, in the racing world these pets are sprinters rather than stayers. As a result, a walk that lasts in the minutes is more appealing than the marathon some other dog’s desire.
In terms of personality, if anything they’re shy, sensitive spirits that just need encouragement to break out the big love.
