About Taffy ~ Cattle dog x kelpie (on trial 10/03/16)
Little Taffy is a happy and placid, 4 month old, Cattle x Kelpie pup. She is a bundle of puppy fun and is just loving life! She is good with children and loves other dogs.
She came to us on 8/2/2016 scared and so timid that she would not walk from the car to our house. Even trying to pat or comfort her was causing her stress. When she met her foster brother (18month old Ridgeback x) she was over the moon with excitement, playing and running with him. But when it came to people, it was if she wanted to come to us but was just too scared. Taffy found it easier to approach my 4yr old and 6yr old children and was always very gentle with them. She wouldn’t even come inside on her first night (she sleeps outside now) and would hide under her foster brother when he came to us for a pat and belly rub. For the first few days with us we worked a LOT on socialising her with people. Since then she has been to the school and preschool, the beach, the park and had so many people come over to see her.
Fast forward to now and she is a different pup! She runs to greet everyone (although she rarely jumps), loves an ear rub and a snuggle. She has grown in confidence so much in the last few weeks and is proving to be a very clever and loyal girl! Taffy now loves a walk, sits for her food, comes inside and sits on her mat and is a very loved family member. She is a favourite at the school and preschool where she loves all the attention she gets! We get lots of comments on how calm she is (although she does have a bit of a love/ hate relationship with the sprinkler!).
Taffy would love (and she deserves) to be part of a happy and active home where she will have someone to be with her most of the time, walked daily and taken to dog training classes. She really does love other playful dogs so having a friend for her at home would be fabulous (especially if she needs to be left alone for extended periods).
Taffy is booked in to be desexed when she is 5 months old, so until that time, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to one of our vets for her desexing appointment.
For more information or to meet Taffy, please contact her foster carer Jess on 0438 447 624 or email jesskent19@gmail.com. Taffy is in foster care near Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Taffy's adoption fee is only $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
