Turner ~ Shih Tzu X ~ On Trial 15/3/16

Meet Turner - an 8-9 year old Shih Tzu X (possibly Chihuahua) who is the ultimate lapdog. Turner adores his humans and will follow you where-ever you go. He would be a perfect pooch if you live in an inner city suburb like Newtown with dog friendly Cafes as he will happily hang out with you sipping puppy-chinos getting pats.

Turner is in foster care with 6 other little dogs and is fine with them, however he doesn't play or interact with them much as he's more of a people dog rather than a dog's dog. He would prefer to be an only dog where he will receive all the love and focus. If you are retired or work from home then Turner would be in heaven as he could chill out with you all day. He would also suit a family with teenage kids (particularly girls) who will pamper him with attention - he will happily sit on their laps and be carried around.

Turner is an inside dog - his favourite spot is on the lounge with you or following you around the house. Turner is a little "Velcro dog" - he wants to be wherever you are all the time - he sleeps with his foster mum on the bed and sleeps the whole night through. He is toilet trained (most of the time) - he can't use a doggy door so he needs an open door to get outside. He will sometimes get very excited with the constant visitors at his current foster home and toilet inside in excitement. So he is best with a quieter home with less people coming and going and easy access outside for toileting. He would suit a home with a small yard or courtyard as he isn't that interested in being outside and he doesn't like the feel of grass under his feet (little prince!)

Turner sometimes has a sensitive spot on his back which will cause him to yelp occasionally if he jumps up or is picked up at certain angles. Most of the time he doesn't notice it at all (he'll jump up and down from the couch with ease and he’s had it checked by the vet) - it doesn't impact his lifestyle or comfort the majority of the time it's just something his family need to be aware of as he is a senior boy despite his handsome young looks.

Turner loves a daily walk - being only little he doesn't get too far but he's a happy chappy with a short walk each day. He's fine seeing and meeting other dogs and people along the way - he's not that interested in the other dogs as his primary interest is in you. He's not quite sure what to do with toys either but he loves to munch on a dentistix chew whilst you go about your chores inside during the day.

Turner has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.
