About Billy
Dear little Billy is as cute as they come. The shelter he came from had him listed as a Chihuahua x, however we can't see much Chihuahua in his breeding lines. We call him a Fox Terrier x, and we're not really too sure what he's crossed with. Whilst we might not be certain on his breed, we are certain on the fact that he is a beautiful little soul who deserves a wonderful home.
Billy and his three brothers were rescued by the RSPCA inspectorate from a hoarding situation. They grew up in total filth, surrounded by too many other animals and were not given the care and attention they needed. Sadly they lacked socialisation which means that Billy is a bit shy at first, but he is totally sweet and gentle and loving.
A dog from a hoarding situation usually lacks training, and Billy is just now learning to be toilet trained. He needs a home that is patient with him because he has had such a terrible start. However he is an intelligent little boy who learns very fast.
Billy was a very frightened when he first came into care but has since discovered the feeling of love. He can be a bit skittish with loud noises and sudden movements but he is slowly learning how to relax and be a puppy. He love nothing more then to be with you having some one on one time and cuddles.
Billy gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home. He loves to play. Since he is still a pup himself, we are confident he will overcome his difficult beginning. Billy is young, fun and full of beans! He would suit a family who is willing to keep up with his energy and training needs.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Kczrs885x4lq3N9u4mQhca
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly, Browns Plains, Jindalee or Chermside vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
