Buster ~ Loyal and loving Boxer (on trial 21/02/16

Hi I'm Buster the Boxer and I'm excitedly looking forward to meeting my furever family! The vet thinks I'm approximately 5-6 years old (even though the pound originally guessed at 8 years). I’m in great condition and I've only got just a little bit of grey on my handsome black face (going grey early is typical of my breed - it's very distinguished!). I love to play-box with you during playtime and rough house games with my family are so much fun!

I'm in foster care with 3 kids ranging from 9 to 15 years old and I love their attention and company. I enjoy it when they take me for walks and I'm very well-mannered with them. I particularly love my 13 year old human brother and enjoy sleeping on his bed now - I used to sleep on the lounge so I'm comfy there too. I try not to hog too much bed space!

I love all humans I meet - I'm really a people's dog rather than a dog's dog. Although I'm in foster care with a female boxer I don't play with her much as I prefer people. We do hang out together in the yard or in the house on the lounge, however being with my people is my favourite place. I'm good with visitors and will say hi to people we meet when we're out.

I'm not a fan of dogs outside the family - I can act a little silly as I feel like I have to protect my family against them. So my family takes me out walking and for swims in the lake at times when there aren't other dogs around. At those times I'm in my element and run around and play like a goof ball - I enjoy a splash in the water in the lake and will walk as far as you'll take me. I love to sniff everything as I'm a bit of a detective and am curious about things.

I get excited when you get my leash or your car keys out as I love walkies and car rides. I'd happily sit in the car watching out the window as we drove around all day. Some dogs sleep in the car but not me! I'm so interested in what's outside that I don't want to miss a thing and will hang my head out to catch a breeze if the window's down.

I'm ok at home if you go out, I'll just chill out with my foster sister waiting for you to come home. I don't dig or try to jump the 5 foot fence. I'm pretty loyal in that way. I live in a busy area and sometimes I will bark and sniff under the fence with people walking past but most of the time I'm ok with all the activity. When you do get home I'm so excited that I run around and smother you with affection. My tail wags a lot and wags hard so it can be a bit of a weapon sometimes but that's just me being excited to see you!

I would suit a family with dog-confident kids or even a couple or single person. I'm best as an only dog as it takes me a long time to warm up to other dogs and even then I'm just not that into playing with them. I would ideally love a family who are boxer fans and know and love my breed.
