About Basil
Basil | Male | Great Dane | 18 months
*Located in Cairns*
Child friendly: Yes, older
Cat friendly: Untested
Dog friendly: Yes
Toilet trained: Yes
Energy level: Medium
This very handsome boy was surrendered to us by his owner, through no fault of his own. He has a great personality & is a typical Dane by nature - calm, friendly, easy-going and at times unsure of new things around him. He loves pats, spending lots of time with his human, playing with toys and splashing in the creek.
He was an outside dog, but his foster carer has been working on his toilet training and keeping him inside for periods of time (overnight, shorter shifts at work) with no accidents. He is very well behaved inside the house and does not chew or bark while the foster carer is away.
Basil is also an excellent outside dog. He has not jumped on the fences, dug any holes or touched any of the plants in the garden. He is an excellent guard dog.
He sits before meals, eats slowly and is not food-driven. Basil is responding well to training provided by his foster carer. He walks very well on his Halti-lead, remaining next to you during walks. He does however get excited when he sees other dogs when walking and will need to continue training for this. He is excellent with all sized dogs in a group environment and has wonderful manners.
He is untested with cats, but gets very excited when he sees one. He is untested with children, but has met quite a few whilst on lead with no issues.
Basil is looking for a furever home with a family who is experienced with giant breed dogs.
