About Bear ~ Maltese boy, 4yo (behavioural hold)
Bear is a gorgeous 4 year old Maltese boy. He is affectionate and loves to play but takes a little time to get used to new people but once he knows you he'll follow you around and adore you.
Bear is rather frightened of new people and dogs and he copes by telling the scary dogs and people to stay away from him. This can appear to be aggression but it's based in fear, so if you are gentle and let him come to you rather than trying to pick him up and cuddle him straight away he will soon trust you and be your best friend. Because of his timid nature Bear is only suited to an individual or couple with no children or other pets. He needs someone who will be patient and understanding with him until he settles in then he'll be a total joy.
Bear has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.
Bear is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside.
For more information or to meet Bear, please contact Donna on 0466 099 426 or email trudgetty@hotmail.com. Bear is in foster care in Wallsend, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Bear's adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
