About Woody ~ Jack Russell Terrier (On trial 12/03/16)
My name is Woody and I'm a 5yo, male Jack Russell Terrier. I am a calm dog but I do still like to play. I love to play with my toys and I can entertain myself while you are busy. I really love to be around people and I will wait patiently while you work or cook dinner, but be warned if you sit down your lap is all mine.
I haven’t had much training previously but my foster mum has encouraged me to walk on lead calmly, and I have been learning to sit every time for my treats.
My ideal home has a big grass yard that is fully enclosed with no places where I can get out underneath, so I can run and explore safely. I loooooove people and will consider myself your shadow. I want to be around you as much as possible so someone being home often would be best.
Because I haven’t had much training in the past my new Mum or Dad will need to be able to keep up my training so I can be the bestest friend for them. My foster Mum says my new parents need to know a secret - I love stinky snacks, and persuading me with them makes me learn much quicker. Or maybe it’s me that wants you to know that.
I am fully house trained and I use the doggie door at my current place. My foster mum says I sleep pretty well at night without needing to be let out during the night. I know this makes her super happy.
Suitability for children: Because I am calm and love people of all ages I will stand still and let the little humans pat me with no problems, and when visiting my Foster Nana I was content sitting on her lap and getting lots of ear tickles.
How I interact with dogs: My foster brothers (who are my size) and I have been having so much fun chasing each other round. I enjoy playing with them so having a furry friend at my new place would be amazing, but I love humans a lot too so this isn’t a deal breaker. I am content playing by myself too.
How I interact with cats/pocket pets: What’s cats? I don’t think I’ve met one yet! & my foster Mum says because I’m a terrier I shouldn’t be around something called a “pocket pet” as I might think they are toys.
I can’t wait to meet my new best friend(s), do you think it’s you? Maybe we should meet to find out

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
