Murphy *On Trial in His New Home*

*MURPHY IS CURRENTLY TRIALING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Looking for an affectionate young dog with loads of character and not a mean bone in his lanky body, then you can’t go past Murphy the loveable Lurcher! (his foster carer has nicknamed him ‘Jar Jar Binks’ as his long ears remind her of the Star Wars comedian!)

Murphy’s mum was a purebred Whippet while his father was a Greyhound x Staghound making him what some people refer to as a ‘Lurcher’. He loves cuddles and thinks he’s a lapdog though at 22kgs he’s a bit too big for that!

This gorgeous boy is shy around new people but is terrific once he gets to know them. He is quite scared of little children (runs away), so would be better suited to a house of adults or older children say 10 and above. He enjoys rides in the back of his carers ute and likes swimming in the river on these hot Mildura days we’ve been having. Murphy is a social dog and loves playing with other dogs – he even tries to play with the household cat but Leo is not having any of it!

Murphy is great on a lead and likes going for walks though he’ll need a good size yard as he really loves to run and boy is he fast! He’s also a clever boy who knows ‘sit’, ‘drop’ and will shake paws especially for treats. He’s a bit of a grazer when it comes to food so his carer has to try to get him to eat it all at once otherwise their dog will finish it off for Murphy and she’s supposed to be on a diet!

Adorable Murphy loves toys and has demolished several which is normal behaviour as at 8 months he is still a puppy. He loves being near people and would suit a home that will allow him inside – he is housetrained and uses a doggie door. He was crate-trained by his previous owner though hates sleeping in his crate with the door shut at his carers, but will go in and out of it during the night if it’s left open.

All-in-all Murphy is a beautiful and gentle boy who will make someone a wonderful companion. He would be best suited to a home with a playful canine friend if you were to be away at work for most of the day.
