About Red ~ Shar-Pei x (on trial 9/07/16)
Welcome to the world of “Red”. Red is a Sharpei cross aged 12 months, and his gorgeous red coat and lovely amber eyes make him a very handsome young man. Notice that he also has the typical blue markings of a Sharpei on his tongue (doggy tatts he calls them), but none of the fur folds that typify a Sharpei.
Because he is still such a young age Red is a very active dog and full of joy at the prospect of a walk or a game. He likes to play with a ball – sometimes he gives it back, sometimes he teases you with it or tries to persuade you to chase him. He would be well-suited to a home with an active family, or someone who liked to run with him,take him swimming,keep him busy. He is an intelligent dog, and even when left alone it is a good idea to keep his mind active with a kong or something to occupy him for a while.
Red enjoys his quiet time too though, and is very happy to sit and watch a movie with you or to just be with you when you are resting. He is an affectionate boy who craves company, and would like to spend every minute of the day with you if only he could.
He loves to see you pick up his lead as he knows it’s time for a walk. He walks quite well with a harness and doesn’t want to drag you along behind. He loves a ride in the car too, and after the initial excitement he makes himself comfortable and settles down for the journey.
Red enjoys the company of other dogs, and likes to play with them. He would do well in a home with another dog, and would only suit a single-dog home if he was with someone who was involved with him during the day. He is good with children.

Red is located near Raymond Terrace, and only 10 -15 minutes from the end of the M1 coming up from Sydney.
Red's adoption fee is $350 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
