About Gem (Dog/Cat/Poultry/Children Friendly)
Hi, my name is Gem. I had a bit of a rough start in life and have had 3 litters of puppies already but I am a really good mum and they are all bouncing healthy pups.
I am still regaining a bit of weight I lost feeding the last lot of 8 puppies but I am happy and healthy and love nothing more than to be with my foster mum and dad. I am living with 3 other DOG, CAT and 5 CHICKENS and I get on really well with all of them but I most of all love being with people and sidling up for a pat and a hug.
I can be a bit timid when meeting new dogs for the first time but I am quite adaptable. I like to be where I can see my humans and greet them with a big thumping tail and a smile if they walk past me. I think I would be very happy as an only dog if mum and dad are around all the time but would like a furfriend to keep me company if they are out a lot. I can jump fences if left alone but I have not tried at all to jump out since I came to my foster family. I just love having people around to tell me what a good girl I am. I have very good manners, understand lots of quite complex commands and learn very fast. I am a pretty laid back lady especially for a Kelpie and am happy to laze about most of the time if I have people around. Sometimes I get so excited to see my foster mum and dad I sing a little song of greeting to them. I love children and wag my tail madly if one passes by. In my ideal home I would like to be an inside dog. I walk well on a leash and enjoy going out with my family.
I'm currently in foster care at Springfield on the Central Coast and will be ready for adoption on the 10th of February 2016, but a meet and greet can be organised before this date.

When enquiring about GEM, please give us some indication of the type of home that She would have with you. We are interested in things such as other animals (past and present), children who may have contact with the dog, whether you own or rent your home, what opportunities for socialisation outside the home your dog would have, how much you/someone is home and most importantly, why you feel this dog may be suitable for you.
Wally's Dog Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
To kickstart my training, Wyong Dog Training Club will provide 3 FREE dog training sessions
http://wyongdogtrainingclub.org.au/. So please be sure to utilise this awesome gift which will benefit both you and GEM.
Wally's Doggie Rescue likes all of our rescues to be adopted into families that will continue their socialisation and allow their dogs inside of the home on a regular basis to ensure that they are part of the family. This is particulary so if they are to be an only dog.
