Sam ~ Shih Tzu x, senior (Trial 29/5/16)

Meet Sam the Shih Tzu x Maltese, 8 years young. This loving little boy ticks all the boxes. He is housetrained, able follow basic commands and has a wonderful personality. When his lead comes out he knows it's walk time and he's ready and eager to go! He has the most beautiful light brown eyes you'll ever see. He also sits up on his hind legs to beg for a treat which is quite adorable. Sometimes he'll even bring you a toy and sit up to offer it to you. You can't help but adore him.

Sam will fit into many different lifestyles. He has grown up with a cat and a rabbit. He is best suited to children over 11 years old. He is happy to live with other small dogs. He can also be an only dog as long as someone is home part of the day so he doesn't spend long hours alone. He eats well and enjoys a varied diet.

Sam is happy to be outside in the yard during the day. He does need to be inside with his family at night and to sleep inside. He loves to be given a pat and having his tummy rubbed.

Sam is easy to brush and bath which is good because he has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.

Sammy will let you know with a bark if someone has come to your place. He has a good guarding instinct and doesn't like strangers coming into his house, but if they are calm and give him treats then he quickly learns to like them. Sam pulls towards other dogs when he's on lead so it's best to avoid other dogs on walks.

Sam has been privately surrendered due to his family moving. Small dogs like Sam often live to 15 years old so he is only middle aged and has lots of time to enjoy his second life.
