About Freddy (Special Needs)
Freddy is a stunning Border boy with Special Needs. Freddy was born blind as a result of two Merl coloured Border Collie's being bred together, he was born with under developed eyes leaving him blind .
Freddy is still your typical Border Collie in every way and doesn't let his lack of vision stop him from running around the backyard or playing with his litter mates (who are also special needs).
There are a few important requirements that need consideration to ensure your home is right for him , firstly Freddy is a Border Collie which is an active working dog breed and all of our Wally Rescue dogs are inside/outside dogs and so an appropriate home layout that gives him easy access to both areas is essential .
He will still need regular exercise like any other dog only he will need to stay on a lead unless in a fenced safe area. His backyard will be important to him as this is the place that he will know best and needs be dog friendly with open spaces where he can run and play without having to negotiate to much , suitable companionship with another dog with also help with his confidence and guide him along and will also provide him with company and security when being left alone .
Dog Training will be very important for the first few months however the normal puppy preschool and dog training groups may not be able to provide you with the skills you will need to train a blind dog so be prepared for private lessons in addition to the group lessons as they are still important for his socialization.

Adoption details

When enquiring about Freddy, please give us some indication of the type of home that he would have with you. We are interested in things such as other animals (past and present), children who may have contact with the dog, whether you own or rent your home, what opportunities for socialisation outside the home your dog would have, how much you/someone is home and most importantly, why you feel this dog may be suitable for you.
Wally's Dog Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
To kickstart my training, Wyong Dog Training Club will provide 3 FREE dog training sessions
http://wyongdogtrainingclub.org.au/. So please be sure to utilise this awesome gift which will benefit both you and Freddy.
Wally's Doggie Rescue likes all of our rescues to be adopted into families that will continue their socialisation and allow their dogs inside of the home on a regular basis to ensure that they are part of the family. This is particulary so if they are to be an only dog.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
