About Rocco *Adoption Pending*
Rocco (aka our little Rock Star) is the perfect gentleman! Here are some words from his foster family -
"He loves every person he meets - kids and adults alike. He is polite, gentle, well mannered and handsome to boot! He is the biggest dog we've ever had but is by far the least demanding - he's happy with a walk in the morning and evening and spends the rest of the day asleep on the couch! He knows basic obedience (sit, shake, lie down), is house trained, walks well on a lead and sleeps soundly through the night beside our bed. He cries and gets excited when he wants to meet another dog or a human out on our walks, but he always approaches politely and gently.
He loves the dog park and loves to run and frolic around with our two border collies. He's not overly interested in chasing the ball, he just loves running around with the wind in his fur and socialising with dogs and humans alike.
We aren't sure how Rocco is with cats or pocket pets but he ignores my cockatiel which is in a cage. He went to say hello and promptly got pecked on the nose so now he stays well away! He gets VERY excited if he sees a cat when we are out walking but we haven't let him close enough to see what he does. He does strike me as the kind of dog that would accept whatever creature he saw as a member of the family though. He's a pretty cool, calm and understated guy.
Rocco's only quirk is that he is terrified of polished wood floors. Our entire house has polished wood floors so we have created a maze of towels and bits of carpet for him to get around on. He can be tempted onto the floor with treats but he gets spooked as soon as he slips and races back to his "safe zone" which is either his bed or the couch. I'm certain with time he would be able to get past it, but he needs a kind and patient family to work on it with him at his own pace.
He does have the malamute double coat so he needs regular grooming to keep his coat neat and tidy. He must be allowed inside and would be best suited to a person or family who don't spend long periods of time away during the day. He adores company and would be really happy with a doggie companion who is friendly and gentle like him, but would be fine as an only dog as long as he wasn't left along for too long.
He really is such a special boy. If there were any possible way we could keep him forever we would - he is the most amazing guy we have ever had the pleasure of caring for.
We will do everything we can to find him a perfectly suited home!"
