About Sally
Sally is a completely adorable 4 year old smoochy girl who loves nothing more than her people! She came to us from a neglectful home where she was seized during a police raid. She was very underweight with ribs sticking out and was covered in ticks and fleas and has clearly had puppies in the past. We mainly rescue greyhounds but Sally was so lovely that we just couldn't let her be put down and picked her up when we rescued a greyhound from the same pound.
Little Sal has received much love and care from her foster carers at Amazing Greys and her coat is now glossy and beautiful and she's a picture of health. Now that we know her well, we know she's going to make someone or some family the pet of a lifetime.
Sally is keen to please and comes when she's called. She has been taught to "sit" on command and will even put herself in "sit" in anticipation of a walk as soon as you get out her harness and leash. Sally has now been taught "wait" and will sit and wait for her dinner, not beginning to eat until you say "okay". She will wait when asked instead of rushing through front doors and at the kerb when on walks. Sally is super friendly but very gentle with all people and children and never jumps or bowls them over. She will wait patiently if she's tied up outside a shop for a short time and wags her tail at any people that stop to say hi.
Little Sal is bulletproof around bikes, skateboards and loud noises etc. She hardly ever barks and is not destructive at all. She's completely unfazed by little kids and toddlers and has shown herself to be gentle and quiet around them.
Sally loves her walks but is a surprisingly low-medium energy dog and a couple of half hour walks a day is fine for her, she likes to spend the rest of her time snoozing in the sun or on the couch. She's been learning how to play and is such a little clown when she zooms around the back garden chasing a Kong but after about 5 minutes she's had enough and is back to sitting at your feet and ready for another pat and a lie down.
She does not pull on leash but likes to stop and sniff practically every fence if you let her and because she's strong, if you're not paying attention and keep walking when she's decided to stop, it's like a boat anchor just appeared on the end of your leash!
Sally was not socialised much in her previous life and can be scared around big dogs or around groups of dogs. Therefore she needs careful introductions to new dogs and has not been allowed off leash at the park as she can find it overwhelming if there is a big group of dogs running around her. In her day to day life, she is happy to meet new dogs one on one and loves all people she meets when out on walks. She is strong on leash but walks without pulling on her harness.
Sally is okay to leave on her own for a reasonable amount of time but you may find that when you're out, she sometimes likes to take her leash from it's place by the front door and puts it in the living room. A weird little quirk of hers! She might do the same to a pair of thongs you have laying around too but has never been destructive to anything she picks up.
Sally would suit a family with kids of any age but without any other dogs or cats.
We are completely in love with her and will be so sorry to see her go but are sure that anyone who meets her for a trial will see what a gentle, special girl she is and will want her for themselves.
