About Scottie
If listed here please be reassured the dog is still available. After reading the profile below, if you would like to meet the dog, please complete this form http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
Riley is Scottie’s father. They must be re-homed together. Both are extremely cute, sensitive and extremely easy to love.
Other dogs
Both are fine with dogs they know but can take time to warm to new friends. Scottie is keen to rush over and meet a new dog but his exuberance can sometimes be off putting to other dogs.
Cats
No. They chase cats and bark at them.
Kids
As the dogs have never been around kids we recommend primary school aged and older. They will not like a loud or chaotic environment.
Size
Approx 6 kgs
Exercise requirements
Medium - playful and energetic. They will walk for hours if the weather is cool.
How is your dog on a lead?
Just like most dogs they start off pulling but settle down nicely.
How is the dog off the lead?
Both dogs are unlikely to come back when called and they do not have any road sense. They need to be kept on a lead or extension lead.
Escape artist
They will not actively try and find ways to escape. However, both may take advantage of a gate left open unintentionally, exploring the neighbourhood and beyond.
Nuisance barker or destructive?
No. Both will alert you to something strange, dogs passing by or a stray cat but do not currently continually bark.
Toilet trained
Yes.
Tolerance to being alone
Yes. However, preference will be given to homes where they are not alone for extended periods of time – we don’t want them sleeping their lives away.
Likes
Both dogs are people orientated and very affectionate – they thrive on human company. They will lie next to you for company, touching your legs or snuggling, until they get hot and then retire to a cooler spot. Both dogs will welcome strangers and are eager to make new human friends. They also love walks and also each other’s company. Both are used to a routine and will need a calm environment.
Dislikes
Riely does not like his paws touched ever since he had treatment to remove a grass seed.
Ideal home
Active retirees or families with older kids would suit Riley and Scottie. While they are fine left alone preference will be given to homes where someone is home more often than not.
Generally
While both dogs are overtly affectionate they are not needy. They are laps dogs that respond to affection but also enjoy new adventures and exploring the yard or park. If you miss a morning walk you might get the ‘sad eyes’ look and they may appear depressed until it happens. They are extremely cute, sensitive and extremely easy to love.

Adoption details
1) Read the dog's profile
2) Complete the expression of Interest form
http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
3) Speak to the carer and arrange a meeting
4) House assessment is completed
5) Adoption is completed with a minimum 2 week cooling off period (similar to a trial but with legal protection)
We strongly recommend you read the dogs' profile carefully as everything we know about the dog/s is listed.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner/s. It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog/s.
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we do not usually allow trials.
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
