About Dex ~ Ridgeback x Lab Puppy ~ On Hold 5/2/16
Hi! My name is Dex, what’s yours? I am a large-sized 14 week old Ridgeback x Labrador puppy who is currently looking for my perfect furever home!
A little bit about me. My foster Mum and Dad say that I am a bit of a spunk with a gorgeous personality. See my pictures? I am incredibly photogenic and I smile and laughed for the camera and everything! I am super friendly to all people big and small and I absolutely LOVE other dogs. This week I have met a cat for the first time and I’m a little unsure about these strange creatures so I bark at them – with a bit of time and lead training I might just get used to them though. In the meantime I love to play with the 4 other dogs at my foster home whom I love! I also love playing with toys - especially puzzle ones with treats inside that I have to try and open - I’m so clever that I’m up for the challenge!
Because I want to make sure you’re as happy as I am, I learn things super-fast – I love to please you and get praise which makes me wag my tail like crazy. I can already sit and drop. I haven’t quite mastered come or wait yet but I’m practising very hard. I’m nearly toilet trained. Most of the time I go outside but sometimes (very rarely) have accidents - but I’m still learning as I’m still just a baby so with time I’ll get there!
I haven’t had a lot of long car trips yet but so far they seem ok. I get excited to be in the car first, so excited that I sometimes need you to pull over for a toilet stop! After that I’ll just spread out on the back seat and fall asleep until we reach our destination. I love it when our destination is the park – oh I love the park so much as I get to meet other people and play. I’m learning to walk on the lead which is very new to me – I’m taking it all in my stride though as I’m a big boy now.
What I need in my perfect furever home is love, cuddles, yummy food, a yard to run around in, a comfy bed inside (or your lap!) and a canine play friend to play with. My best friend is Sorbet who is a Dalmatian cross and we can run around for hours until we can’t run anymore! Being a puppy I will get bored if left alone so I would love a canine friend to keep me busy and be a good role model as I grow. My foster mummy recommends puppy-training classes to give me the best start in life – us puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and continued training as we grow.
Do you think you could be the one for me? Hope to meet you soon, Love Dex!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
