About Jess ~ I have videos! (On Trial 10/2/16)
Hi I'm Jess and I'm a 2 year old Cattle Dog X Border Collie X total love bug! My foster mum says I have so much love to give and that I'm the perfect snuggle companion. If you are feeling down then I love to cuddle up with you (or perch myself on your feet) and hear your woes - I'm such a great listener in that way. I'm gentle and can be quite a lady with my good manners.
I love women and once I've met you I will adore you to the ends of the earth and back. I'm so comfortable in my own space once I've settled into a new home with people who love me. I take a little longer to get used to men as I find some men very scary at first as I've had negative experiences in the past - I am getting better though and will warm up to men if they are gentle and give me space.
I love playing zoomies in the backyard so my perfect home is one with a sizeable yard where you can throw a toy or ball for me. I'm a wiz at playing fetch (which I could play all day!) - I will even sometimes put the ball in your hand so you don't have to bend over to pick it up. I will catch a toy and then do laps around the yard with it in absolute joy.
I enjoy a good long walk, and if you train me, I've got enough energy to be a great running partner as I could run all day. I can sometimes be a little cheeky and chew up my bed and toys so I'm not totally perfect if left at home alone - but I will make it up to you with the excitement I show when you get home.
I need to be an only dog as I'm not good with other dogs at all. I've had some trauma in the past which has resulted in me being very defensive. For this reason I am best suited to a dog experienced family or a family who is experienced with cattle dogs who can continue my training. I love going out with you for walks and adventures but please not in high dog areas as it stresses me out. There is a dog that lives next door and I occasionally barks when he barks - other than that we ignore each other. I have visited the beach and I enjoyed the sand however I'm scared of water - whether it be in a clam pool, the ocean or the garden hose I find water scary! I'm in care with two cats - I'm only mildly curious when we see each other through the door but we haven't interacted one on one.
I'm an inside/outside girl as I love coming inside to spend quality time with my family - I'll perch on my bed or the doggy sofa and check out what you're up to. I currently sleep in a back room and I sleep well through the night. I only occasionally bark if someone comes to the house, or if the neighbour’s dog barks. I can be scared of some visitors so I'd love a family who can continue my training and help me learn that visitors are friendly people too.
I absolutely love older kids around 10 years and above. I've played with a 10 year old and 13 year old and I'm very gentle and respectful when we play 'chasies' around the yard. I'd love to be best mates with an older confident child who is happy to run with me around the yard or throw toys for me until we drop. I haven't been with babies or very young children but I might knock them over accidentally so bigger kids are best. I am very well-mannered with food, I don't snatch and I sit, shake or lay down when asked.
If you love cattle dogs and can continue my training and socialisation then please call to find out more about me. I have some insecurities and fears however your love and commitment to me will be rewarded by all the love I can give you in return.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
