About Coco
Sweet Coco is a pedigree sheltie. She is a gorgeous girl, healthy and affectionate and wins the hearts of all who meet her. Coco came into our care via our vet clinic. She had eaten a bone over Christmas and it had caused a severe obstruction, which required emergency surgery. Her owners were not willing to pay the costs involved, so our vet offered for them to surrender her, knowing that we would happily pay her medical bills to save her life. All the vets and vet nurses fell in love with her, and she has been fostered by one of the vet nurses who saved her life.
Coco was incredibly sick and was hospitalised for several days, however we are thrilled with how well she has recovered and she is a healthy, happy and active dog again. She is a well loved part of her foster family, and spends her days playing with their Border Collies. Coco loves going to the beach and would enjoy a life where she can be active and get lots of exercise.
Coco must go to a home with another dog, she is incredibly social and loves to play. At first, Coco chased her foster carers cats, however she has learnt not to do this. If her forever home includes cats in the family, some ongoing training will benefit her. However, she is never aggressive.
We'd love to find Coco a home with experience with her breed, as she will require ongoing grooming and Shelties are a very special breed. Coco is good with kids, however she can be shy at first.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Coco has some mild arthritic change in her front legs and we have started her on a course of Zydax injections to benefit her joints. We would recommend she is given arthritis supplements to help prevent this problem getting worse.
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Kczrs885x4lq3N9u4mQhca
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly, Browns Plains, Jindalee or Chermside vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
