About Mickey
Mickey is a lovely 4 year old boy who failed to make a career on the race tracks.
He was then surrendered to a vet school where he patiently let students explore the anatomy of a greyhound.
This life is now behind him and he has adjusted well to pet life.
He loves his walks and needs at least 15- 20 minutes twice daily to be happy.
Mickey also likes to race around the backyard once in a while.
He is a playful boy and loves his toys, but also any small soft objects you have in the house, e.g. your soft slippers.
His love for anything squeaky is adorable.
He is very inquisitive- Mickey will smell everything and get into everything if given the chance.
He will repeatedly smell everything even though he’s gone through it the day before.
Mickey is also easily distracted during walks by people, dogs and noise but not all the time.
Mickey has shown tendencies to be a good warning dog at night. He will bark at footsteps in the middle of the night outside of his room.
He is not aggressive when he does it and we never heard him bark during the day.
But at night, nobody can sneak around the house without him noticing!
Mickey loves his routine and does best with regular walks and feeding times.
He likes to follow his humans around the house but he is good on his own in the backyard when nobody is home.
Mickey’s ideal forever home home has another large dog for company for him, however he would be okay as an only dog provided he is not left home alone for too long.
He is not suitable to be re-homed with small animals as he may think of them as toys.
Mickey is in foster care with another male greyhound and they both get along well.
They often choose to sleep close together in the same room but it took them a couple of weeks to become such close friends.
When Mickey first arrived, he preferred a bit of space between him and his foster brother.
