About Leo
This teeny tiny little man arrived into Wally's care from the RSPCA after he spent the first 9 years of his life in a puppy farm. A life of nothing but breeding with no vet care, grooming or human interaction. This is thankfully all in his past and he is now enjoying a life of good food, love, vet care, regular grooming, a doggie companion who has taught him how to play and a foster mum who adores him.
Leo may be 9yrs of age and have only a mere 3 teeth left after having major dental work to remove most of his decaying teeth, but this little man's face lights up every time you walk through the door. He plays like a young sprightly dog and follows his carer everywhere within the home.
When Leo first arrived into care, he was extremely timid of people but is growing in confidence everyday. He still gets startled with sudden movements or sounds but is happy to welcome newcomers into the home as long as you allow him to come to you. For this reason, we feel that a home with young children may be too much for this little one. Leo would also need to go to a home where he had a little furry friend to play and cuddle with. He is very dog friendly and seeks assurance and comfort from them more so than people.
Leo is now on a diet of chicken mince, brown rice and vegies with kibble and thoroughly enjoys his meals. He is currently learning the basics of toilet training in his foster home and is happy to spend time both inside and outside. He often seeks comfort in his kennel when outside and enjoys snuggling with his foster sister while in there.
Leo will need one more follow up vet visit which will be happening in the next week and will then be ready to head off to his new home. He comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and heartworm tested - negative results. He is available for a meet and greet and in foster care at Blue Haven on the Central Coast.
Medical notes
Leo had Grade 4 Dental disease and has received major dental work to remove most of his teeth.
Some skin irritations were observed where he had lost some fur in places. Weekly Aloveen washes along with a good diet should resolve this.
Adoption details
Please contact Vanessa via email only should you wish to meet Leo. Email will ensure a faster response.
When enquiring about Leo, please give us some indication of the type of home that he would have with you. We are interested in things such as other animals (past and present), children who may have contact with the dog, whether you own or rent your home, what opportunities for socialisation outside the home your dog would have, how much you/someone is home and most importantly, why you feel this pup may be suitable for you.
Wally's Dog Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
A home and yard check will be done by one of our carers prior to adoption.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
