About Miss Poppy (applications closed)
Poppy is quite shy when she first meets people but once she is comfortable she loves you. She will become your shadow but once she feels confident in her environment she will become more independent and move out of viewing range. She will definitely be a lap dog and needs to be socialised and taught to walk on a lead. She came into care with her siblings and they were all in terrible condition and hadn't been handled. So she does need a home that is quiet without noisy toddlers. She has been exposed to my grandchildren and I thought she would be scared of them but in about half an hour of them being here she was following my 4 yr old granddaughter around in our backyard. I do think that she would be better with children over about 8 though. I have recently given her a bath and she was terrified, I was going to clip her as well but didn't want to push her too hard. She will need patience in teaching her that bathing, brushing and grooming her are things she can enjoy. Poppy is happy to play with squeaky toys and loves our 2 resident small dogs. She does chew my dogs ears and bite her legs ect while playing so if she was going to a home with another dog it would need to be a tolerant dog that would put up with a puppy. Poppy is still learning the difficult task of toilet training, she is pretty good but you will need to be vigilant when she wakes up or when she has been inside for a long time. We would prefer a home for her where she wont be left alone for long periods so someone who works part time or from home would be ideal for her.
Please note we do not choose families for our pets by first in first choice, we choose the home we think will be the most suited to the dog. We will endeavour to reply to all emails in a timely manner but please remember we are volunteers with jobs, families and lots of foster animals :)
Please put as much relevant information in your email application as possible.
