About Dakota ~ on trial 23/4/16
Meet Dakota a pretty 12 month old red cattle x. Dakota is a happy girl who can be a little shy when meeting some people the first time – but once she has met you her friendly and playful nature shines through. Dakota has an irresistible smile from ear to ear –she loves life and she loves to play!
Dakota is a real cuddler – she loves to sit on your feet which is so typical of a cattle dog! Dakota has only recently come into foster care from a rural pound and she is making up for lost time smothering her new friends with affection. She is in care with an adult kelpie who she enjoys spending time with. She loves meeting other dogs on a daily walk and would really suit a home with a friendly playful pooch or a family who will take her to a doggy beach or park for play dates with other canines.
Dakota loves people of all ages and sizes however she finds very tall people or people who stand over her daunting at first and she will shy away. If you befriend her from down low she feels more comfortable and will be your very best friend fast. When she plays she will be quite boisterous so bigger kids or kids familiar with friendly dogs would be a good match for her.
Dakota's perfect family will be energetic and outdoorsy - she loves going for a long walk. If you are a jogger she would be an amazing running partner. Being people focused and extremely smart she needs to be included as part of your family and stimulated with fun outings. She would be great at agility or advanced training as she is very clever – she already has great recall with her foster family. She is not suitable as an outdoor only dog as she's so social – she likes to have access to come in and out of the house and yard depending on where you are, and she enjoys sleeping inside.
Dakota is eager to please you just for praise (although she won't say no to a treat either as she loves food!). She loves playing with toys and will lovingly take her toys into the yard and bury them in random places. She is not scared of storms or firecrackers and isn’t a barker either.
If you would like to arrange to meet Dakota or have any further questions please contact Kristina by email kikii1987@hotmail.com. Dakota is in foster care in Tighes Hill (Newcastle) and is not available for interstate adoption.
Dakota's adoption fee is $400 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
