About Budah ~ Kelpie X Puppy ( on trial 12/03/16)
Budah is a bright and cheerful kelpie cross puppy boy, with the cross most likely being a staffy. Budah is 4 months old so he’s still overflowing with puppy exuberance, showing all around him that life is one big happy game. He is a bundle of fun who just makes every day in his company a joy.
Budah has been living with 5 older dogs and has gotten along with them like a house on fire, even if he has far more energy than them all. Budah has shown absolutely no doggy aggression in this time and is very placid around them. He absolutely loves children and is fine with them. He also is great around seniors and seems to know to adjust his energy levels depending on who he is with. Budah has not been around any cats or pocket pets at this stage so we are unsure how he would behave around them.
Budah is very smart and a quick learner. Although he has been with us for just a week, he has adapted quickly to his routine and is learning his manners, such as not jumping or nipping (common puppy behaviour), that inside is quiet time and to go to the toilet outside. Many of these concepts he has made great strides in only a few days which is great for such a young dog. He is still learning to walk on the lead and respond to his name, although he has demonstrated his usual quick learning skills with this too and this should pose no problem with a little more training and encouragement.
As Budah is a working breed, he will need regular exercise, a good walk or run daily or lots of ball throwing and other games. He currently enjoys chasing his kelpie foster brother while he chases his ball and attempting to get the other dogs to play with him. After a work out, he is content to just sit in the sun and watch the world go by. Budah enjoys playing in the water and will sit in his clam shell on a warm day to cool off. He is not overly food driven (something not too unusual in working breeds) and does not show any food aggression around feeding time near other dogs.
Budah has been outside during the day and comes in at night. He is content to sleep on his own inside the house on his own bed. No separation anxiety has been witnessed and he calms quickly after being let inside and becomes a little couch potato. He will gratefully curl up in your lap or wherever else he can wiggle into and fall asleep.
Budah would make an ideal companion for a young active person or couple or someone with space where he can run around and burn off all that energy. He would be happy with a doggy companion or as an only dog.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
