About Thunder
Confident and friendly, Thunder is a great family dog. He loves people, especially kids, and is polite and appropriately social with other dogs. He is large-framed (but not overweight) for a beagle at 16.5kg.
Thunder isn't a barky dog but when he does sing out, you will hear the distinctive, deep-throated baying sound of a beagle! He has been housetrained to use a flap door since coming into our care, but is happy spending the day out in the backyard with another dog.
Thunder tends to pull on lead, but this is being worked on and he is actually learning rapidly to walk beside without veering off to smell something - but he is a hound after all!
He rides well in the car and quite enjoys going for a drive. One thing he needs ongoing work with is that he snatches too eagerly when you hand him a treat and he lets his teeth scrape across your fingers. His foster carer is teaching him to take food gently, but we recommend that children not be allowed to feed him by hand.
Beagles are athletic and good climbers, so Thunder's adopter must have tall colorbond-type fences and gates.
Thunder is located in WAGGA WAGGA, a five-hour drive from Sydney or Melbourne.
This pet will come microchipped, but council registration - if required in your state or territory - is not included in the adoption fee.
Adoption details
Our goal is to match pets' personalities and exercise/training requirements with people whose lifestyle they are best suited to. This reduces the chances of the pet winding up in a pound again. Please don't feel offended by our adoption process, it is for everyone's and every animal's benefit:
1. Submit application for adoption (obtain at Best Friends Pet Rescue website).
2. Homechecks are conducted on short-listed approved applicant(s).
3. Best match selected according to the pet's personality and needs.
