Cooper ~ Fun loving Jack Russell (on trial 4/05/16

Hello there, I am Cooper! I am a friendly little 9 year old Jack Russell Terrier. Don't let my age fool you I am still a bright and energetic little chap who loves to play with my human and doggy friends. I love running very fast with my foster brother Dasher and trying to stop him from catching the balls my foster parents throw for us.

I love people, especially the ladies - you could call me a bit of a ladies man! I love snuggling with my humans on the couch, so if you are after a friendly affectionate companion then I can help you with that. Being a typical Jack Russell I have a spring in my step so I can jump up and down quite high like a jumping jack. Because of my cheekiness and ability to sneak into parts of the house and yard that are fenced off with gates, I will need to have good solid fencing. A 1.5m high gate is way to low for my agile abilities so 5 to 6 foot solid wood or colourbond fencing is best to keep me safe and sound.

I get on well with all dogs I have met and spent time with, but sometimes I can be a little nervous when other dogs come up to me so I'll seek reassurance from you. Once I get to know them and understand they won't hurt me I'll play with them and be good friends. I would be good in a family with older kids or teenagers who are comfortable with my jack-in-the-box playing style - toddlers and little kids might get knocked over in my excitement to play.

I currently live on acreage with my foster family so I get a lot of exercise exploring new things on the land. I love to be able to go for walkies every day for at least 45 minutes as this helps me to burn off my little-dog energy. I love my walks so much that if you walk twice a day I'll definitely join you and my foster mum says I have great manners on the lead. I'm best in a home without birds, pocket pets or cats as I love to try to chase them (even though they don't want to be my friend!). I tried to chase a kangaroo once but he was way too fast for my little legs!

I am very smart and learn new things quickly (us Jack Russell's are known for our intelligence as well as our cheekiness!). I am learning how to be a good dog for my new family when I find them and I currently know how to "come here", "sit" and "shake" and am working on "down", "drop" and "stay". I am toilet trained in my current foster house however as with most dogs when I move to a new environment I can have a few accidents until I settle in. I know how to use a doggy door all on my own and love being able to come and go into the house as I please. I always choose to sleep with my foster brothers and sister inside the house at night.
