About Sanders
A work of fiction from those who love SandyPants:
My name is Sanders.
I have a story for you, about how I was rescued..
I was always outside, as long as I can remember.
I’d sit for months in the corner of the yard, on a chain because the fence blew down in a storm. I made my home under a rickety old fort that had fallen over as the wood was rotten. I had to watch for the rusty nails so they didn’t poke me, but I was sure grateful for the slide that had broken in half that I could shelter under.
People would come by every now and again and leave kibble in a nearly bin. They would untangle my chain, give me a pat and tell me I was good, but they always left without me.
I was happy enough in my little home, until one day the people stopped coming.. My bin became empty and I’d licked the last of water from the bathtub nearby. I tell you something, it was slimy and sandy and it tasted foul. I became hungry and thirsty and very very frightened …
Next thing i know, strange people came toward me, dressed all funny... I was so scared! I hid under my slide and rotten fort and pretended they weren’t there. But they found me, pulled me out. They carried me to a van we drove off down the street!
They took me to a place where I was cleaned up, watered and fed. There were lots of other dogs too!!! Boy oh boy was it nice to have some cold fresh water. The girls kept coming back with bowls of food all through the coming days, and I stopped being afraid.
As i settled into my new home, they taught me how to walk on a lead, then they taught me was a toy was.. Oh HOW MUCH FUN!! I now own my own toy box that i play in every day! I get so excited now to meet people – its very hard for me to settle as i have so much love to give!!! Especially to the people who saved me from the rickety fort and slimy water..
But they tell me that I have to leave this home now…
They say “its time to find a family SandyPants! Someone to love yo, to take you walking and play toy-games with you every day!”.
I don’t understand why i have to go, I love this place. The people here have shown me how to love.. why do i have to go?
But they say its time..
....Are you going to be Sanders’ chance at a forever FAMILY home?
