About Holly
Holly's story is devastating. She was found inside a cardboard box, which had been taped shut and dumped at a vet clinic in Tamworth NSW. The first question to come to mind is who could be so heartless, but honestly dumping Holly was the biggest favour they could have done for her - she was in terrible condition and had suffered neglect. By being dumped outside a vet clinic, Holly made her way into care with us and now has a new life, new health and will have a new hope.
Holly was missing most of her fur with terrible flea allergies, her teeth were rotten and infected and even her little ears were greasy and infected. She has been in care for several months now, and she looks like a different dog.
It is a credit to Holly's good nature that she has gotten through her neglectful past without developing any ill-will. She is quite the opposite to what you would expect from an abused dog - Holly is sweet, friendly and so affectionate. She is gentle and loving and her foster family adore her.
Holly is currently living in a home with younger children and she simply adores them and loves following them around the house. She loves the company of other dogs, and would make the perfect family member for a very lucky family.
Now that she is happy and healthy, Holly deserves a home that will treasure her and protect her from ever suffering like she did in her early years.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Holly came into care with severe dental disease and required urgent surgery. She had her infected teeth removed and her teeth cleaned and polished. Holly also had some benign mammary masses removed when she was desexed. Mammary masses can reoccur, and it is hard to predict whether this will be the case. The lumps were sent off for testing and were not cancerous which was a big relief. Holly should be monitored in the coming years for any regrowth of the masses.
Holly has recovered fully from her skin and ear infections, and she now has a soft and shiny coat.
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Kczrs885x4lq3N9u4mQhca
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly, Browns Plains, Jindalee or Chermside vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
