About Bambi
Beautiful, extremely playful, young and vibrant former professional athlete - seeking companion to ride out her many retirement years with, in comfort and style.
Bambi is a gorgeous and gentle girl who is child and dog friendly, looking for her forever home! Bambi is quiet and gentle, but also extremely playful and fun - she would really suit a home with children or an active home who would love to play with her, but would also suit an older family or couple she is very versatile. Ideally she needs someone to exercise her and give her loads of cuddles. Bambi is a clown and so funny - she is also very good looking, people always comment on how pretty she is. Her red fawn coat is a very pretty colour and soft and snuggly. Bambi is young, only 2 years old, so will need a family ready to commit to at least a decade or more of spoiling her, loving her and caring for her - which she will repay with kisses, cuddles, loyalty and love.
Bambi is a playful girl when awake and loves going to the beach for a dig in the sand, a run at the dog park, or a nice long walk - but does get tired soon, and loves to sleep for up to 90% of the time! She loves a good lay in the sun or a snuggle on the lounge. She is very affectionate towards humans and other dogs. Would work well in a family situation and ideally would love a fun and playful companion animal. Her best friend in her foster home is Dora, a chunky little Staffy who plays with her all day long - their favourite games are chasies, pulling stuffing out of beds and fluffy toys, and tug of war with their toy ropes.
Bambi is very gentle and patient with kids, she currently lives with a 2yo and 4yo who test her patience, give her a LOT of love and cuddles and play all day - she loves it all and has proven herself to be great with the kids.
Bambi would best suit a home with no cats or small furry animals such as bunnies or guinea pigs so as not to tempt her prey instincts that were sadly trained into her in her former career. She could be trained out of this behavior and may end up a very cat friendly dog - however she isnt at that stage just yet and her foster home doesnt have these animals to increase her exposure.
Bambi is excellent to walk and is easy on a lead, Bambi would love a good walk each day, but doesn't complain if she doesn't get one every day. Another favourite activity is to run off leash at the fully fenced secure dog park for Greyhound play dates with other rescue Greys and her friends Dora and Ziggy the staffies!
Bambi is a retired racing dog so she is looking forward to having a normal pet life with a new family, where she can run for the fun of it, be loved and a part of a family. Bambi is yet to be fully toilet trained to sleep inside but hasnt had any accidents inside as yet and is in the process of learning this in her foster home. She currently sleeps outside in a semi enclosed patio area which is ok for summer but is learning about indoor living for when it gets cooler again. She does love to sleep on any soft surface she is allowed on - and happily plays outside during the day.
Greyhounds make great lounge lizards, they are low shedding, usually house train easily and are not barkers or fence jumpers - they are the easiest dog you will ever have! They do have some special needs that other breeds dont such as needing some warm comfy coats for the cooler weather/climates as their low body fat and thin coats arent as warm as some dogs have, they are also legally required by an outdated law to wear a muzzle in public. This can be avoided by completing the Greenhounds Program which then gains them an exemption to wearing a muzzle in public.
If you want to know more about adopting a greyhound feel free to give us a call, we have many beautiful greys available and could no doubt find you the right one if Bambi wasn't your perfect match!
