About Emmy Lou
Emmy Lou is a 3 and a half year old Maltese x Shitzu x Poodle. She is a tall girl and weighs in at just under 10kg. She is quite a fluffy girl and will need a lot of coat maintenance when her coat grows. She is friendly with people when she knows them but when Canine Lifeline first met her, she presented with fear barking (potential aggression) at strangers. She already knows that this isn't ok and now is usually reserved when meeting a stranger. She will approach when she is ready and initiate contact. Give her pats or a treat and she is your friend. She would be fine for a home with older or calm children but would be better off not with little ones. Emmy Lou is looking for a home where she will be loved but where she will be trained in a continuous manner. She will prefer to be a primarily outside dog, spending short happy periods inside the home with her family. She is usually uncomfortable inside the home, taking a long time to relax, often not relaxing but desiring to go back outside. If you are a family who enjoys outdoor activities she would love to spend time in the garden with you. She would enjoy but does not “need” the right canine companion, and she would be happy living with cats. Dog doors are an absolute no no for Emmy Lou and boundaries are an absolute must. She will thrive in an environment with very clear leadership and consistent rules. If you would like to know more about her please contact us.
Medical notes
The vet has given her the all clear re health; no issues with hips, elbows, kneecaps, joints, spine or teeth. But she does have a low level incontinence for which she takes a tablet twice weekly. She also tends towards submissive or excitement weeing. Her toilet training was patchy to begin with but has improved immensely.
