About Klaus
Klaus is a big boy born on 16.10.15 to mum Lilo. DNA testing shows that Klaus' mum is a Husky X Malamute X Golden Retriever while his father was a pure Maremma. This is a tricky breed mix as one parent has a natural prey drive while the other parent has a natural guarding instinct.
While Klaus looks more Malamute than any of his siblings, his traits could still draw from any of the breeds in his DNA.
Klaus will therefore be best matched to someone on well landscaped acrage (he has a long, fine coat susceptible to grass seeds). He will require a great containment option (such as a secure dog yard) as huskys and malamutes are skilled escape artists. Given that Klaus could have inherited the Maremma tendency to bark (we don't know yet) he will not be re-homed to an urban backyard environment and will not be suited to a first time dog owner.
Like all of his siblings, Klaus will make a fabulous pet in the right setting. He is well socialised with people (including children) and other dogs.
His adoption fee is $400 which helps cover his care, health check, first vaccination, desexing, microchipping and parasite treatment.
Microchip number 985141000920056.
Before enquiring re adoption please research the Maremma, Husky and Malamute breeds and note that we will not be placing this pup or any of his siblings into homes in built up areas with close neighbours. This is due to the Maremma's barking trait and our aim to match dogs as closely as possible to their ideal environment (based on their breed requirements). If you are an experienced dog owner who lives on acreage and has an area to securely contain a dog for it's safety when you're not home please email lydia.ward44@outlook.com with some details about your home and family set up, your experience of owning dogs etc.
