Jedi ~ On Trial 24/7/16

Hi my name is Jedi and I’m a young, 2yo, kelpie x. I am a big lovable goof with big ears and a playful disposition. I think I'm the fastest and the most agile dog in the world even if I do fall over my own feet sometimes! I weigh about 30 kg so I’m on the large side of medium but I’m a gentle love bug with my family and give the best cuddles ever!

I absolutely love my family - I’m very people focused and I enjoy hanging with my humans. I will bark to let you know when people come to the door, I then settle with a proper introduction and a treat reward. I absolutely love bigger kids and teenagers so I would suit a family with bigger kids who will play with me as I’m very gentle with them.

My foster mum says I’m cheeky because in the past I’ve pinched food that wasn’t mine and had a real feast – whoops sorry about that (but it was delicious!). I didn’t get fed a lot of food in my old live as I was so skinny but I’m learning not to be cheeky pinching food and I’ve made lots of progress. You could never say I’m a fussy eater!

I still have some puppy silliness, but I think it just makes me more lovable! I’ll certainly make you laugh all day with my antics and clutzy behaviour. I like to follow you around the house watching what you are up to or having a nap. I love doggy toys– especially squeaky ones!

I can sit, lay down, kind of roll over and do some pretty neat tricks with a treat. I have been taught to sit and “touch” foster mum’s palm with my nose for a treat if we are outside and it’s noisy with lots of things going on. I’m still learning the stay command so I will need to work on that. My foster mum says I’m really well behaved and do what I’m asked (most of the time!)

I live with a small, energetic Pug x Jack Russell called Astral and I love him to pieces. He can boss me around as much as he likes and I’m OK with that, we also play like crazy youngsters running around the yard like it’s a racetrack tackling each other. Even though I love my foster brother Astral, I don’t like other dogs much except to bark at them. It takes me a very long time to get used to other dogs and I do prefer little dogs like Astral rather than big dogs. I am best suited in a single dog family or with a family with experience with big breeds who can help me integrate with a smaller playful dog like Astral. I went to a boarding kennel recently and I was fine with all the big dogs there, however, in a home environment I’m more protective of my family.

I like to sleep inside and I’m completely toilet trained, I can also use a doggy door. My foster mum says I need some more work when we walk on the lead but she also says that I have learned a lot since I first arrived– she walks me with a head halti.

I don’t mind being home with Astral when my foster family goes to work but I do enjoy a morning and afternoon walk for exercise. I’m not a barker, jumper or digger if I’m left at home, I will normally just chill out with Astral. I love car trips but I do get car sickness if I’ve got a full tummy.

I’m a very loyal boy who is both loving and protective of my family and I would love my own furever family to cuddle up to and love.
