If you’d like to share your life with a polite, gentle, fluffy and super super handsome guy, read on!
Dudley is a delightful, calm and sweet-natured Maine Coon cross. He’s very chilled and is happy to do his own thing and let you get on with what you need to do.
He has a great appetite which isn’t affected from having his two upper ‘feline’ teeth removed. In fact, the only time he’ll make a peep is if you’re late with his meals. Even then, he'll politely miaow and look at you - 'Please? I'm a little hungry.'.
Being a gentleman, he’s not one to climb all over kitchen benches (partly because he has short legs and isn't very athletic!).
He also gets on well with other cats. He's not so comfortable with dogs.
Dudley adores being brushed. Bring out a brush and start working it along his fur and his deep baritone purr will be on full volume. He just can’t get enough. You’ll benefit from the soothing world of ‘brush therapy’ and he’ll be able to keep his coat in great condition.
He has very fluffy legs and feet, his feet looking more like a Cocker Spaniel’s than a cat’s!
If you’re someone who doesn’t like fur on your fur-niture (isn’t that why it’s called furniture?) or clothes, he’s probably not the cat for you. He is generous in sharing his fur with us fur-less people.
Dudley knows how to walk on a harness and lead and loves the great outdoors. He also loves basking in the sun on a cat-proof deck.
Dudley has tested positive for FIV. He experiences periodic ‘colds’ and sometimes gets a runny nose. This can be managed with a good diet, nutritional supplements and antibiotics if needed. A low stress environment in a loving forever home may well prevent this altogether.
As he isn’t aggressive towards other cats, he can safely co-habit with another cat, with negligible risk of the FIV being passed on. He has absolutely no interest in world domination or picking fights. He just wants to be loved.
Please email Lee if you’d like to know more about this gorgeous guy.
Dudley has tested positive for FIV. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives and don’t develop any symptoms. In fact, studies have found that FIV+ cats often outlive their FIV- friends.
http://www.catchat.org/fiv.html "A ten-year FIV Monitoring Project was carried out at Glasgow Veterinary School involving 26 cats and the results indicated that a higher percentage of FIV negative cats died during the period of the study than FIV positive cats, and that FIV infection did not affect the cats' life expectancy.
Dr Diane D. Addie (Lecturer in Veterinary Virology, University of Glasgow) said "at least 3 studies in FIV positive cats have shown a life span equal to uninfected cats."
A fourteen year study by Maureen Hutchison B.Sc, BVMS, MRCVS (veterinary adviser to the Cat Action Trust) found that FIV-positive cats are more likely to die by being killed in road accidents or to be alive and well into their twilight years than they are to die from any FIV related condition."
