Lexie ~ Kelpie X On trial 28/01/16

Hi my name is Lexie and I am a Kelpie Cross and am around 18 months old. I have been in care for a while now and while I love living with my foster family it’s time to find my forever family.

As Kelpie’s go I am a little girl, so I am perfect for a family who wants a smaller dog, but doesn’t want
a “little” dog. Even though I am small, I hold my own against my big Staffy foster brothers who I love
to rough and tumble with.

Whilst I am mostly black, I have some white on me and the most gorgeous front speckled socks that
make me look like I stole a blue heeler’s feet. As you can see in my photos I have huge ears which means I don’t miss much. This makes me a great watch dog and I have a huge bark for my size.

I am pocket rocket so if you are after a running companion I have plenty of energy. That said I am very happy just to walk on the lead next to you, as long as there is not much traffic around, I don’t really like the cars going past and don’t like motorbikes at all.

I love to chase a ball and playing tug-o-war is my favourite game. I do like to jump up but most of the time I only jump up when I am asked to. When called I will jump up into my foster family’s arms. Because jumping is no problem for me, I need a house with tall secure fences. I probably could climb too if I tried so I also need fences that I can’t climb up. That said I am not an escape artist so secure fencing is only just a precaution.

I am always trying to please my foster family and my foster mum thinks that if you want a dog you can train to do tricks, I am your girl. I will sit and wait for my dinner and am getting better at sitting and waiting at other times.

I have been around little kids who I thought were ok but I currently live with two teenagers who absolutely adore me. They let me snuggle with them which I just love. I am a good girl who will sleep on my doggie bed but will sneak up on the bed and I will even climb under the covers if I think I can get away with it.

My ideal home would be somewhere with a nice big yard (I’m not a townhouse kind of dog) and another dog to play with when my family is not home. Somewhere that I am allowed inside. I currently am allowed inside and sleep inside at night though I do stay outside when my family goes out.
