About Casper ~ Mixed Terrier X (On Trial 24/1/16)
Well Hello! My name is Casper and I’m a 5yo Terrier Mix. The last few months have been a whirlwind where I found myself roaming the street as a stray, on death row at the pound and rescued by Dog Rescue Newcastle. And haven’t I certainly landed on my feet!
If I was to use one word to describe myself it would be HAPPY. That is me to a tee! And I like to make sure my humans always know how happy I am by giving them big cheesy grins, shaking my little stumpy tail and sometimes even turning in circles of excitement. I also like to show my humans how much I love them – because I think every human is just THE BEST. I always make sure I snuggle up next to them on the lounge, because I want them to know how much I love them.
My foster mum tells me I am the best foster dog she has ever had…but I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because I sleep through the night without ever disturbing her..or maybe it’s because I’m toilet trained. Or, it could be because I’m such a good companion to her – always happy to see her, spend time with her however, I’m confident enough that I don’t get anxious when she leaves me.
I live quite happily with 4 other dogs and a cat. I even sometimes like to join in and have a play with my fellow canines, however I would be very happy as an only dog, lapping up the attention from my humans. My perfect home would be somewhere where I am involved in all family activities and able to spend lots of time with my humans.
I have some very minor and very manageable health considerations which have been explained below in the health section so have a read. Despite these issues I am a happy little guy, who will be a loyal, loving companion to whatever family is lucky enough to call me their own.
My adoption fee is $350 and I am desexed, vaccinated, worm and flea treated and I come with lifetime registration. I am available for adoption within the Newcastle region. Medical notes
Now, here’s some important information that my new owners need to know.
Despite all my wonderful qualities I also have a few MINOR medical issues. I have a heart murmur and arrhythmia. At this stage this doesn’t affect me at all, and the vet has done tests and it happy with how things are, however there is the chance that down the track that I might need some medication to help it. Just like humans, with age comes more medications.
I also have really sensitive skin which gets itchy very easily, but my foster mum easily manages this by not giving me chicken (I am allergic), feeding me high quality food (approx. $30 a bag) and using a special shampoo and conditioner ($20 a bottle).
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
