About Galaxy
Galaxy has been through a lot in his short life at approximately 4 years old and between 14-15 hands. He was seized by our inspectors at the beginning of the year in a terrible state. After being nursed back from emaciation he was found to have an 8cm enterolith (hard stone) in his intestine and an intermittent nasal discharge.
The cause of the nasal discharge is a fistula (tract) between the mouth and sinus cavity. The consequences of this is that intermittently food is impacted into the fistula and up into the sinus causing a secondary sinusitus and right sided nasal discharge. This condition is difficult to treat surgically and the specialist at Camden University are hoping that as he matures the symptoms may decrease. However Galaxy will be prone to secondary sinus infections and may require follow up veterinary treatment. As a result his new home must have access to a good equine vet and dentist.
Galaxy has also been diagnosed with a congenital cataract in his left eye which has left him with moderately impaired vision on the left side and thus we do not recommend him as a riding horse. A Facebook appeal was put out to our wonderful supporters to raise the $8000 and after months of rehabilitation Galaxy is now ready to go to his new home.
That's the bit about Galaxy's past now for his future! Galaxy will need an experienced and dedicated home as he is only a youngster to provide him with a proper education.
