Roxy ~ senior terrier On Trial 14-01-16

Roxy is a sweet, gentle, loving and affectionate 9 year old terrier mix. She looks just like "Hairy Maclary" from the popular children's books! She has an easy care, rough terrier type coat that doesn't shed much. She is a small to medium sized dog weighing approximately 6 kilos

Although Roxy loves everyone she meets, adults and children, she forms a close bond with her person. She is a healthy and active little dog. Small dogs can typically live to 16 so at just nine years old, Roxy still has lots of time to devote to her new adoptive family.

In her past life, Roxy wasn't taken out for walks so she is not used to walking on leash and is easily frightened and stressed by loud noises (thunder, motorbikes, traffic). I have been taking her on short walks to help her overcome her fears. She will just need someone who will be patient and understanding with her while she learns to enjoy the world outside of a backyard.

Roxy is an inside dog who needs to have full access to the house at all times. She is house trained and not destructive. She uses a doggy door to go outside to toilet. Like many dogs, she is afraid of thunder and needs to be kept inside and safe during a storm.

Roxy will become your little shadow and follow you around everywhere. When you hose the garden she likes to jump up and play with the water which is quite funny! During the night, she likes to sleep on the end of your bed. Although not a problem barker, she will let you know there is someone at the door.

Roxy's ideal home would be a quiet home with someone who is home most of the time and wants a devoted canine companion - did I mention that she adores her humans? Given adequate love and attention, she would be very happy as an only dog. However she has lived with other dogs and gets along with them - although she can be bossy - and would adjust to living with an easy-going dog her own size.

Roxy coat is easy care and doesn't require a lot of grooming. A bath every two weeks and a light brush every other day is all that is needed to keep her looking and feeling her best.
