About Cherry ~ Jack Russell (adopted by carer 19/3/16)
Meet Cherry. Cherry is a senior Jack Russell X. She is a lovely little girl who is 11 years old, but acts like she is a youngster. She is full of energy, loves going for walks and playing fetch with her toys. You rarely see her without a toy in her mouth or nearby. If you talk to her she wags her tail-she is always very happy. She sits and waits very smartly when asked and I'm sure she'd love learning new tricks.
Cherry was an outside dog when she was surrendered to us, but since coming into foster care she enjoys being an inside/outside dog and sleeps inside on her bed at night. She was surrendered to us due to her previous owners moving interstate and not having a suitable place to live with her.
If you give her a treat she will look for somewhere to hide it for later. It’s very funny watching her do this. She is a great companion, but not a lap dog. She doesn’t sit on your lap but is happy to sit or lie next to you for tummy scratches. She makes a fine companion.
Cherry likes to be near you and know where you are when you are at home, but she also doesn’t mind being left at home on her own when you do go out. She rides very well in the car.
Cherry is good with small calm dogs and equally happy as an only dog. We don’t believe she would be suited to a home with cats. Being a true terrier, she's not suitable to live with un-caged chickens, birds or pocket pets.
We feel Cherry would be well suited with owners who are home more often than not, and who like going for walks – perhaps even someone who is retired.
For more information or to meet Cherry, please contact Deborah on 0414 873 974 or email debsinc17@hotmail.com. Cherry is in foster care in Morpeth, NSW (15 minutes north of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Cherry’s adoption fee is only $100 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
