About Louie
Louie is a timid boy who is new in care. Over time and with some trust he becomes an affectionate boy. Louie is all about belly scratches.
He also likes his down time. He will often take himself into another room and be found napping away.
Louie loves the dogs in his foster home and is disinterested in the cats.
He is however not suitable for a home with children under 10. He enjoys the quieter things in life..
Louie is looking for his second chance at a new family. Somewhere that he can retire for the rest of his life.
We have found that Louie has a heart murmur, but at this stage he doesn't need medication for it. Whilst It is not affecting his day to day life at the moment, it will have to be monitored in the years to come by his new family.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Little Louie has a heart murmur, a condition we frequently see in chihuahuas. Our vets have investigated this thoroughly via blood tests and chest xrays and an ECG. The great news is that Louie is showing no signs of congestive heart failure and does not need medication. In the future, he may need to start on heart medication if he starts to show signs of being affected by the heart murmur, but we hope this is a long way off.
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Kczrs885x4lq3N9u4mQhca
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly, Browns Plains, Jindalee or Chermside vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
