About Cherry Blossom
Cherry Blossom is affectionately known as Cherry. This beautiful old soul came into care very neglected. Since arriving here at CRQ, she has absolutely transformed from a very sick and damaged little dog into a cheeky and healthy little social butterfly. She had such red infected eyes and skin, but after some love and care, Cherry's hair is growing back and her eyes are clearing up.
Don't let Cherry's age fool you. She is a very playful and social girl who loves children. Cherry also loves other dogs. She can however be picky with her doggy playmates and much prefers the company of smaller dogs. If Cherry didn't have enough playmates to keep her having fun, she would likely get bored so we'd love to see her go to a busy home with another dog to play with. She also loves a cuddle and is a very settled and snuggly girl, however she will love to have a daily walk and a few good games.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Jindalee, Browns Plains, Chermside or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
The condition Cherry was in when she came into rescue was horredous. She was missing most her fur and her eyes were infected and weeping. She had suffered from "Cherry Eye" (prolapsed eye lids) for many years so she required immediate surgery. Although the surgery was successful, her eyes have still been damaged from years of neglect which means they still have a small amount of daily discharge which her carers wipe away each morning. She is no longer requiring eye medication and her skin has recovered. The transformation has been truly amazing to watch.
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Kczrs885x4lq3N9u4mQhca
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly, Browns Plains, Jindalee or Chermside vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
