About Sissy ~ tiny Chihuahua, 6yo (trial 29/11/15)
Meet the adorable Sissy! Sissy is a 6 year old purebred Chihuahua with big brown eyes that will melt your heart. Weighing in at only 2.7 kgs Sissy is a true pocket pup who loves nothing better than a good snuggle on your lap.
Sissy is very much an indoors gal, preferring to lounge on her bed or lap than spend time outdoors. She currently happily lives with another small dog and very large cat. She’s a bit wary of the cat (who is more than twice her size!) but nonetheless manages to ignore him and get on with her day. All three currently jostle for lap space from anyone who offers them a pat!
Sissy has had a tough start in life and will need someone who has the time to build her confidence in the world that surrounds her. She doesn’t like wide open spaces, and is adjusting to spending short bursts outside on the grass to go to the toilet. Sissy is learning to be toilet trained and she will need someone who is home most of the day to continue with her training and show her that fresh air and sunshine isn’t necessarily a scary proposition!
Sissy adores the teenagers she lives with. She loves when they come home from school and wags her tail so much we wonder if it will fall off! In fact, anyone in the immediate family circle will be greeted with utmost enthusiasm and an invitation to sit down so she can grab a cuddle. She will need lots of continued reassurance from all family members to develop her confidence and will not be suitable for households who have young children. Although she’s very wary of strangers when they first enter the house, and will bark to try to send them away, she is learning to trust that visitors aren’t necessarily scary. Her furever owners will need to be prepared to continue with this lesson using lots of positive reinforcement and love.
Sissy is a gorgeous loving girl who will make a dedicated companion for a person or family who is able to invest time and love into her development. If you’d like to know more about her or arrange a meeting, please call Leanne on 0419 231 580. Sissy is currently living on the Central Coast of NSW, near Tuggerah.
Sissy’s adoption fee is $350 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
