About Lotus ~ Border Collie x Lab Pup (trial 28/11/15) )
Introducing beautiful Lotus, a gorgeous 9 week old Border Collie x Labrador puppy.
Lotus is a gentle soul and is learning to trust humans. She loves fur friends and will need to go to a home where she has a fur companion to ensure she is happy and fulfilled. During her time in care she has learned to come for cuddles and now runs to people who she is familiar with. She loves to play with her fur siblings, she really loves a bit of a wrestle and she adores the big dogs in her foster home.
Lotus is a quiet girl and when she is not playing she loves to snuggle up for a nap. She likes to find a little cosy spot all of her own, be it the lounge, under a table or in her crate and doze away.
As she is a puppy she is too young to be left alone for long periods. She needs to go to a home where she is welcome inside and to be a part of the family.
Due to her breed she is capable of jumping and climbing so she will need 6ft colourbond fences to ensure her safety. If she is going to a rural home we will need to assess the fencing there also to ensure she is safe.
Because she is still young she is learning the art of toilet training. It is important to set up a routine and ensure she goes out regularly to avoid accidents. Along with toilet training she is also learning basic commands. We would recommend puppy pre-school to continue her training as this will give her the best chance.
She is not yet desexed due to her age, therefore she is only available for adoption in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens. She will need to be returned to one of our approved vets in those regions for her 2nd vaccination and her desexing. Lotus will remain registered to Dog Rescue Newcastle until she has officially been desexed. Her new adopter is responsible for booking and paying for her third vaccination and this is a good opportunity to introduce her to the vet you plan to use in the future.
If you feel you can offer Lotus a loving forever home please email renlou1980@gmail.com to register your interest. She is currently in foster care in Lochinvar (near Maitland). Her adoption fee is $600 and this covers her desexing, first two vaccinations and lifetime registration. She is also flea and worm treated.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
