About Snoopy - Beagle x Cavalier (trial 9/12/15)
Meet Snoopy the 4yo male beagle x cavalier. My name is Snoopy, my foster family thinks I probably won that name as I like to snoop everywhere! But I am learning that there are some things that are out of bounds for me.
I am a lovely family dog who has spent some time losing weight and practicing my manners as I run around my foster families large property with little, medium and big dogs, cats, horses and even goats. I am such a good boy on the farm and although I am more beagle than cavy in looks, I defy the beagle traits by coming as soon as I'm called no matter what I am off snooping at. I sometimes do wander next door to visit if no one is watching so I do need secure fenced yards, yet do not jump fencing so anything above 4 foot keeps me safe.
I am very motivated to learn and love shaking hands for a treat. I am used to being an indoor/ outdoor dog and my favourite place is snuggling my adult or children friends on the lounge. If I am locked outside when my family is home I sometimes jump up to bang at the glass door as I really love being able to come in and out as I choose., however if everyone goes out I am happy locked out in the yard and sleep in the sun quietly awaiting their return.
I love car rides and walks and coming everywhere I can with my family, I get so excited when they come home and sometimes jump up but when reminded to sit I usually listen, I just have to be careful that I don't scare any little kids when I get excited. I used to get over excited when I saw my lead and jump and cry but I have stopped this now that I go walking and running everyday. I also play with my soft toys and love fetch and chase with my doggy friends. I share my food with my chihuahua size friends and never growl or get cranky at them, we share beds sometimes too, but if I am with a big more dominant dog that starts an argument with me sometimes I will argue back instead of walking away. For this reason I would prefer to have a non dominant friend that likes a snuggle and some gentle play.
I may be happy as an only dog if I have a family that is home a lot and takes me for walks and gives me lots of attention as I have spent time alone in one of my old homes. Generally I am a pretty happy go lucky man, who is excited to find a family to love me, as you will see from my photos I am the size of a short beagle but have some cavy in my face, and have that snuggly, cuddly, people loving temperament of the cavy and the beagle rolled into one.
If you have any questions about how I might fit well into your family please email my foster family and tell is about your family (human and animal) by filling in an adoption questionnaire. Due to shift work my fosters choose not to list their number but they will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please contact Shannon on email shannon@weiley.com.au. Snoopy is currently fostered at Mandalong (20 mins south of Lake Macquarie) NSW.
Snoopy's adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
