About Candy ~ On Trial 19/12/15
Meet Candy a very pretty and friendly 7 month old red cattle x puppy. Candy loves meeting people and adores meeting friendly dogs. Candy has an irresistible smile from ear to ear - how can you not melt into mush when she beams at you with such joy?
Candy is a real cuddler - if you sit down she crawls up to you and buries her head in your lap. She's a shmoocher and a licker and takes great joy in giving you puppy kisses. Candy has only recently come into foster care from a rural pound and she is making up for lost time smothering her new friends with affection. She is in care with two dogs and five cats and she loves them all. She will sniff and lick the cats and will back off if they swipe at her. She is still learning not to chase when they run - but she's going so well considering she's only lived with them for 10 days.
Candy loves playing with toys and will keep herself happily entertained for hours playing with toys in the yard. She will run like a rocket after the ball if you throw it, she does attempt to bring it back but being a typical puppy often gets distracted on the way back to you by other things. Her new favourite hobby is to go to a big fenced in park and play with her doggy friends. She will play with the other dogs but always come back to you for reassurance and to make sure you are still there. She is very submissive when playing with other dogs, she wants everyone to be her friend.
Candy loves people of all ages and sizes however she can find boisterous games with kids a little scary. If kids chase her in play she thinks she is in trouble and drops or rolls on her back. If they play with her quietly she adores them. For this reason she is best suited to a family with older or teenage kids who can sympathise with her uneasiness with rough games. She will happily greet visitors and is affectionate with them.
Candy's perfect family will be energetic and outdoorsy - she loves going for a long walk and is learning to walk very well on lead next to you. If you are a jogger she would be an amazing running partner. Being people focused and extremely smart she needs to be included as part of your family and stimulated with fun outings. Although she is quite self sufficient when it comes to playing on her own, she is not suitable as an outdoor only dog as she's so social. Candy is new to toilet training as she's most likely been an outdoor dog her entire short life. She now sleeps inside on a dog bed and has already learnt not to go to the toilet inside - she is such a fast learner. Candy is one very clever little pup and she picks up training so easily - she is eager to please you just for praise alone (although she won't say no to a liver treat either!).
Candy is an adorable and stunning little character who will win you at hello. For more information please contact her smitten foster mum Jo on jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com (preferred) or 0427 695 104 (after business hours). Candy is in foster care near Gosford, NSW (Central Coast) and is not available for adoption interstate.
Candy's adoption fee is $400 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
